Dried Figs Barfi Recipe

This barfi is a delicious and healthy Indian dessert.

It is made with dried figs, milk, ghee, and sugar.

This barfi is rich in fiber and nutrients and is a perfect snack or dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients:

-1 cup dried anjeer

-1 cup milk

-1/4 cup ghee

-1/2 cup sugar

-1 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions:

1. Soak these dried fruits in water for 30 minutes.

2. In a pan, cook the soaked figs with milk on medium heat until the figs are soft and the milk has reduced by half.

3. Add the ghee, sugar, and cardamom powder to the pan and mix well. Cook for five more minutes.

4. Remove from heat and let cool.

Then, shape them into small bars or squares.

5. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Fig and Almond Biscotti

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

One teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup sugar

Two large eggs

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted Makhan (butter), at room temperature

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/2 cup dried figs, chopped

1/2 cup almonds, chopped

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 340 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Mix baking powder, flour, and salt in a medium bowl.

3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl.

Beat eggs, one by one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until just blended. Stir in dried figs and almonds.

4. Divide the dough into two parts, half each, and shape it into two logs.

Place on a prepared baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the above mixture from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.

5. Transfer logs to a cutting board and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.

Place the tray on sliced biscotti on the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until crisp.

Let cool completely on a wire rack.

Fig and Walnut Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

One teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted Makhan butter, at room temperature

1/4 cup sugar for taste

Two large eggs

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/2 cup dried figs, chopped

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 360 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Grease the tray and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

2. Mix baking powder, flour, and salt in a medium bowl.

3. Beat the sugar and Cream butter until light and fluffy in a large bowl.

Beat both eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

The tray is greased. Add some flour mixture slowly to the wet ingredients until just blended. Stir in dried figs and walnuts.

4. Pour your prepared batter into the pan and bake for 70 minutes, or you can do the toothpick test, which is inserted into the center of the bread. If stick comes out clean means, it is baked.

Cool the mixture for nearly 10 minutes before removing it from the pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

Fig Newtons

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

One teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted Makhan butter, at room temperature

3/4 cup sugar

Two large eggs

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/2 cup dried figs, chopped

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 360 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2. Mix baking powder, flour, and salt in a medium bowl.

3. Add Cream, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl.

Beat the eggs one by one slowly, then stir in vanilla extract.

Slowly add the flour mixture to the above-wet ingredients until just blended. 

Stir in dried figs.

4. Pour your batter into greased pan and spread evenly.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the toothpick test inserted into the center of the stick comes out clean, which means your fig Newton is ready to serve.

Let cool before cutting into bars.
